Kabbalistic Sephirat HaOmer - day 38, 5 weeks and 3 days
Trees Nurture ~ Tiferet sh b'Yesod

Looking up at the canopy of tree tops all around me in Mason Park for the Lag b'Omer celebration, had me feel protected in harmony with G*d's Love. It might be easier to paint the feeling of enveloping love for Tiferet, but having the trees all around me made me feel secure with something much greater than myself.

I felt Yesod's nurturing foundation of creation.

Branches grow up to the Heavens, and roots grow deep, and meet my needs for shade on a hot day.

When I would visit my husband, z"l, as he lay paralyzed for months on mechanical life-support, I would drive the long freeway distance toward the hospital, and on the way, stop in Elysian Park. Barefoot I got out of the car and walked in the grass under 100 year old trees. I needed to take that healthy loving nature energy with me into the acute-care hospital room so I could authentically share in the bonding of Yesod, with Tiferet's compassion and joy.

Tomorrow would have been my husband's birthday. He died at age 59.

May the refinement work of cosmic cleansing that I do on myself during the 49 days of Kabbalistically Counting the Sephirat HaOmer help me to mamash/truly be who I am, and need to become. I need to delete klipot/husks (negative influences) and again ready myself for Shavuot by strengthening, elevating and perfecting my midot/character traits.

Note: The counting of the Omer takes place between Passover and Shavuot, and each day is associated with a specific Kabbalistic combination pair of Sephirot.  For a greater explanation and understanding of this theme, see Rabbi Simon Jacobson's "A Spiritual Guide to the Counting of the Omer," which may be found on http://www.chabad.org/ or http://www.meaningfullife.com/
