HARMONY IN EXISTENCE - day 45 TIFERET sh b’MALCHUT

Kabbalistic Sephirat HaOmer day 45,  6 weeks and 3 days of the Omer

If only I could be in Tiferet, as beautifully in Harmony and Truth in my Malchut world of revealed expression and relationships, as is this Double Delight most fragrant single rose, gift from G*d.

Thank you Holy One of BlesSings for opening our eyes, nose, fingers, to touch this magnificent rose and see You, a fragrant taste of feeling in our heart.

How is your world of Tiferet in Malchut?
What is the beauty you see?
What is your inner beauty?

There is the beauty of our souls that can emerge.

I, too, need to clean off the shmutz, and let my soul shine.
Inhaling the breathe of rose, and holding that moment in stillness helps to cleanse me, and see myself, and our world with better eyes.

G*d Loves Me

Outlining a radiant heart
to fill with intense red and purple
feels exciting to me.

Freely splashing water
and wildly brushing layers of color onto silk
is satisfying for me.

A frosting of salty tears
add surprise and a magical marbling finale.

With a bit of a broken heart,
I dance on silk, knowing
G*d loves me.

CROCUS - day 45 TIFERET sh b'MALCHUT

Psalms of My Soul
ספירת העומר

Tiferet sh b'Malchut

Sephirat HaOmer day 45
6 Weeks and 3 Days of the Omer

Crocus Bride ~ Harmony In Majesty

The sweet humble little crocus in harmony with the Earth, from its bulb in winter's soil, breaks through the hardened dirt, in rain, snow, ice, sun, as the first little close to-the-ground flower to let us know that winter is ending and spring is coming. In beauty, the crocus balances out the change of seasons. With compassion for us, it shows the way to spring time...  Little crocus looks like a bride waiting for her beloved at Mt. Sinai.

Henayni, I am here. I am assured that seasons are unfolding as they should. I break through to what ever needs my beauty, my essence in the Light of the Holy One, to understand harmony. My intentions must be expressed in truth for new life.

How can I be like a crocus or a bride? When l've been dormant in winter, sleeping, without sun's warmth, how do I pick up my strength and life-force to break through hard ground, and in truth, to unveil a pretty face in harmony with the new season? How much space, leaving room for others, do I need to fulfill my place in the garden? With what compassion and beauty in confidence and authority, Tiferet sh b'Malchut, can I reveal my deep-rooted self after being hidden underground for so long? How can I be all that I can be in balance in the garden, mediating the 'seasons' of Lovingkindness and Strength, in the presence of Shechinah?

Listening to the Sound

Joy's response to Chabad's Daily Dose 4-25-08

"The listening alone is enough to crack the shell of the egg." - R. Tzvi Freeman

The listening is enough to crack my HEART and The Compassionate One can enter in joy and laughter and light as I listen at this moment to Franz Schubert's sweetest Violin & Piano Fantasy; not only to enter from the crack of brokenness in sadness and loss where I have welcomed G*d's embrace, but from the crack in the sidewalk where drops of water nourish the seeds of the unwanted weed in my grass, the magical Breath-blown dandelion.

Visiting my children, Aviva and Brett, in Boston for Seders, I saw the Divine One's manifesting delight in the dirt. I saw the cracks in the earth where the tulips and daffodils were breaking through in G*d's glory. Home in sunny Los Angeles the ground does not get hard enough to create the cracks, so the birth is more subtle in LA. Our earth is not cold enough to "ripen" bright red tulips. Listen to the sound of the tulips shining. Yellow forsythia blossoms I also miss.

Thank you Hashem for gifts of this Omer season.

FIGS GROW - day 46 NETZACH sh b'MALCHUT

Psalms of My Soul
ספירת העומר

Netzach sh b'Malchut
Endurance Within Shechina

Sephirat HaOmer day 46
6 weeks and 4 days of the Omer

Figs Are As Torah.  Am I?

- Joy Krauthammer

Fig trees in all their ripe beautiful fullness, uniqueness, and purple royalty, are grown from foot-long barren branches filled with potential. In dormancy, fig trees have been pruned, cut back and endure the amputations, and mourning over limb loss. Roots, new branches, leaves and produce are determined to sprout, grow and fill out in glory.  Fig tree has endured the dormant winter season until Tu B'Shvat when again the sap flows. In victory over obstacles, new growth successfully starts to push out through the undressed branches, some lathered in tar from prior amputations. Determination is immediate as even the tiniest of green baby figs show their perseverence and appear to begin a new season, while other creatures scamper all over the figs, devouring them, as they mature.

Figs are as Sephirot as is Torah

How can I be like a FIG?  How can my spirit and physical being endure trials, challenges and seasons, and successfully reach my goals?  What kind of warrier am I?  Do I fight for what I believe in for myself and for others and ideals?  Do I go forward in joy?
What is my intention from the time of Tu B'Shvat, and when my limbs are pruned to serve a purpose, to achieve goals, to produce lush beautiful sweet, purple bounty?

How are my roots when they had been vulnerable and fragile, and my trunk, branches, leaves, and nourishment– so that I can go forward with my fruits, my gifts, toward my receivers of fruits?  Is my fruit like the fig and Torah, that it is edible through and through, and ripens a little at a time?

Sephirot HaOmer are like Torah and figs: Additional Sephirah energies are visible each day, as are figs, and contemplated, and grasped, digested, and more wisdom and transformation is available for goodness, growth and sharing in the land of Holiness.

"They will sit, each person under his vine and under his fig tree, and none will make them afraid, for the mouth of the Compassionate One, G*d of the hosts of Creation, has spoken." (Micah 4:4)

"Torah compares to a fig tree; Figs on a tree do not ripen all at once, but a little each day. Therefore, one keeps finding new figs in the tree each day. So too with Torah: The more one studies each day, the more knowledge and wisdom one finds." (Eruvin 54a)

"In that day (of Torah and peace)... everyone will invite his friend in fellowship under his vine and under his fig tree." (Zechariah 3:10)

PERSIMMON BABY - day 47 HOD sh b'MALCHUT

Psalms of My Soul

Hod sh b'Malchut
Humility In Nobility

Sephirat HaOmer day 47
6 weeks and 5 days of the Omer

Hod/Humble appreciation of the gift of being, in Malchut/sovereignty with all my individuality.
Persimmon qualities birth anew in a tiny space and grow to ripe mature fullness in flavor, color, beauty, uniqueness, and quality. Only at the right stage of growth should a persimmon be picked, eaten and enjoyed and shared, or it will be bitter, and wasted. I love the Shin found in the humble unripe Hachiyah persimmon slice.
I am in awe of the baby and the edible persimmon, whether fresh or dried.

In Hod/humility, am I grateful to the Holy One that I, too, am blessed with special qualities, my Malchutness?
Can I burst through my protective skin in joyous fullness and still be humble?
Do others think I am anything but joyous and giving?
In humility, do I share my gifts when I feel I am secure in my skin/skill and heart?
Do I appreciate the gifts that G*d has given me, that I can share, and please Hashem?

HUMBLE BLOSSOM - day 47 HOD sh b'MALCHUT

Psalms of My Soul

Hod sh b'Malchut
Humble Blossom

Sephirat HaOmer day 47
6 Weeks and 5 Days of the Omer = Day 5 of Week 7
Ways of knowing the individuality of the Sephirot pair.

Little humble blossom of Splendor. Great joy in the Cherry blossom.
Appreciate your self for all you are, and know that G*d has you here for a purpose.

Hod/Humility occurs from recognizing and acknowledging the Divine in our lives, and appreciation for the gifts that we are in Malchut. Here we share the blesSings that we are, and give pleasure to the Holy One

The single little Japanese Cherry Tree blossom is absolutely regal. It is only a small flower in the bigger picture of the blossom bunch, the branch, and the tree, and the stand of trees, and the position tree holds at the lake surrounded by ducks, puddles, wisteria canopies over benches, butterflies, bugs, people (walking, painting, photographing, and fishing), and by wind, sun, rain, mountain and sky.

The blossom is like me or I am like the blossom. Single ingredient in family and community and universe. All that I am, and that the blossom is, and combines the energies of all that flows into me; and into the tree. Blossom attracts and gives to the butterfly and photographers. I play my part in our universe "Serving G*d With Joy" (Psalm 100:2). The more I do mitzvot, the more I am driven to do spiritual actions, and have gratitude.

Today is Sephirat HaOmer Day 47, a special number for me as the Los Angeles Local Musicians Union is # 47, and as a little purple blossom, I give to community and G*d by being percussionist musician.

How independent are we without nourishment, resources, and the Village Forest, and the Holy One?
In Malchut, with what qualities am I blessed?
In Hod I am grateful for all that I am. I am grateful for the single blossom.
Shekhina is the Indwelling Presence I feel.
Blossom is embodiment of Shekhina's presence on earth. She shines and offers us her all.

Does it matter if the little blossom appears, or blows away in the wind, or falls to the ground?
She is part of the greater whole universe, and I am in awe.

OHR LIGHT - day 47 HOD sh b'MALCHUT

Gratitude and Reverberation within Shechina's Indwelling Radiance

Sephirat HaOmer day 47
6 Weeks and 5 Days of the Omer = Day 5 of Week 7
Ways of knowing the individuality of the Sephirot pair.

OHR
Following a meditation on the Holy Temple and being in the Temple Tunnel,
In Hod, I painted this Ohr canvas (including the sides) filled also with a Magen Dovid in form of a flower, and added feathers, gemstones and sparkles.

I had not painted with a brush since a few decades earlier.

After Counting the Omer for 49 days, and then away at a Shavuot retreat (with Reb Zalman Schachter-Shalomi), during Yiskor, in my mind, I conceived a flame from this painting, for my own use as a Yiskor flame when no candle was available. Once back at home across the country, I then used the visualization concept of candle to create the 2-sided "Memory Flame" card from the Ohr painting and Yiskor service. I manifested the cards soon after that, and in fullness of Malchut, I've been sharing the cards for many years, with people who have lost loved ones and are grieving.

Memory Flame
Yahrzeit & Yiskor Condolence card

This card also is created in Hod, filled with gratitude for my received teachings. It contains the splendor of the Light of Hashem. Tiferet is activated with sentiments of compassion and in beauty. I was driven in Netzach to go forward and succeed with the vision of freely sharing also in Chesed / loving kindness. By hiring a fine digital designer to meticulously carry out my design, I used Gevurah for limitation, and Tiferet for balance.  Through Yesod / creation I had the card made as an offering from my soul, from Malchut / the best of all of me, to be given to those in need during mourning.

Reb Zalman, z”l, taught us,
while we stood on the moist green grass at the lake on Shavuot during Yiskor,
to "hold your beloved’s, z"l, hand in your hand”
and in their memory,
"to feel and share in both direction: forgiveness, gratitude, compassion and love.”

Beloved Reb Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, z"l, passed over after falling ill during Shavuot.

PASSION FLOWERS - day 47 HOD sh b'MALCHUT

LOVE AND BARLEY: A Lesson of the "Omer" Ritual
A Teaching excerpt from Rabbi Gershon Winkler --Shavuot 2009
.

"... These two passages in the sacred writings of the Hebrew prophet Jeremiah says it all. The first yield of the earth is like the first love you've ever experienced. Not your first boyfriend or girlfriend, not your first romance, but your first love, meaning the first time you actually felt like, wow! this is the real thing and nothing can be more real. ..."

G*D's PASSION FLOWER FLOWERS
Passion Flower returns as "first love"

- Joy Krauthammer

As I read the excerpt quoted above from Rabbi Gershon Winkler, I think of how this afternoon in my garden with my sister, Faye, I was in the Glory of Hod showing to her the dozens of Passion Flower circular flowers that are blooming, readying to bloom, and browned and dried up--have bloomed, and even a few small green hard fruits that in a few months I will be crazy in delight as I harvest and open the ripe ones.

These flowers, composed of their funny wiggly threads, are the potential of what will be. Yet they need to first die leaving no evidence of their glory before birthing their fruit. I felt the love, the first love of these fruits today in their pre-season. How does one express this?

Last year I had to cut down this 60 foot long thick Passion Flower vine because of a barnacle bug. Cut to the core, down to the trunk near the earth; no more vines, leaves, curly tentacles to grab onto the fence and each other. Can you imagine how I felt?

The gardener knew it would grow back. HOPE. Trust, Faith. I was very sad over the remains for that which I had thanked G*d for on a daily basis. Patiently all year I have been tying up the vine tendrils as they emerge, to both sides of the fence to anchor them.

Today in full sun, came back in full glory in varying maturity of openness, dozens of nature's gifts--the flowers, and I am beside myself bursting with love's glee. These flowers are for me. With whom will I share my bounty? "This is the real thing... the first yield of the earth."

Recent is Rosh Chodesh / New Moon, and readying to finish Counting of the Omer and greetShavuot.

Any minute now we are entering Sephirat HaOmer Netzach sh b'Malchut. How these vines have fought to come back in strength and joy. They fought a battle with the barnacle scale and I thought they lost (as they did for that season even with all my soapy washings) but they are now strong and have endured.

Day 47, year of my birth, meaningful to me, especially since I am a musician and that 47 is the number of the LA local musician's union. 47 for me!
Day 47, when Hod flies into the beauteous splendor of being, as in thanking G*d for the Passion flower and fruit. Thank you G*d.

Hod sh b'Malchut. The holiness of the smile seeing G*d's creation manifested here on earth, in the earth and Shekhina blesses us as she dwells amongst us, in exile, hoping we become ONE. That holy Passion Flower fruit in it's fullness of seed, is ONE. It is so humble hanging onto the vine for months at a time, hiding, until when finally ripe, in it's wrinkled state dropping with no one to catch it, and lies in the dirt waiting to be found. And hopefully not the opossum or raccoon or squirrel with its hungry fingers.

Soon we enter Yesod sh b'Malchut, the creation relationship of earth bonding with Shekhina. As new flowers unfold from their cocoon, I celebrate the birth, the "mystery manifested." I am in love with the "first yield of the earth."
