RAINBOW STAR IN BALANCE - day 18 NETZACH sh b’TIFERET
2 weeks and 4 days of the Counting of the Omer

Hippie Rainbow Mogen Dovid #1
© Joy Krauthammer

Creating Hippie Rainbow Mogen Dovid greatly challenged me.
My goal for today was to create a harmonious Mogen Dovid in Rainbow colors!

A computer trainer told me that it is not possible to make rainbows in Pages, an Apple app.
With Netzach/persistence, I insisted in Truth/Emes that there is a way, and I would find it.
I have reached victory through my endurance in Netzach.
Took a week, but for today I asked the right graphics trained person and he taught me, and others continued to guide and support me.
After learning how to create unifying bars of colors, I expanded to diagonals, circles, and partial circles, and stretched them into shapes.
I had such a good fun time playing in Beauty. Felt like a kaleidoscope and being in a candy store.

I made the 6-pointed star triangles here a bit more full, and gave the star a curved drop shadow.
I tried to Balance the colors in symmetry, and where they lie in the star.
I chose the hues and brightness of colors that I like.
I then reversed the color scheme, starting over from beginning.
Here's are two versions of my Netzach in Tiferet
Already today I have used my Mogen Dovid Hippie Star to send greetings to friends.
That pleased them and me, too.

ENJOY!!
Please leave me a comment, if you like these, or not.

Thanks Nick, Stephanie, Jordan and Raffi, for your guidance!

What is the blemish I can repair in my internal spiritual work, in the qualities of Netzach sh b' Tiferet?

Knowing I was right the prior week when I initially wanted to learn Rainbows, I could have persisted in asking the trainer to ask another trainer for help. I didn't have to be a complacent person in going aong with what I knew was wrong. It is not that I needed to be 'right', but that I wanted to succeed in making an image of beauty and harmony, and being able to share it.
Holy One, bless me to stand up for Truth.

~ ~ ~

Master of the universe, You have commanded us through Moses Your servant to count Sefirat Ha-Omer, in order to purify us from our evil and uncleanness. As You have written in Your Torah, "You shall count for yourselves from the day following the day of rest, from the day on which you bring the Omer as a wave-offering; [the counting] shall be for seven full weeks. Until the day following the seventh week shall you count fifty days," so that the souls of Your people Israel may be cleansed from their defilement.
Therefore, may it be Your will, Holy One, our God and God of our fathers (and mothers), that in the merit of the Sefirat Ha-Omer which I counted today, the blemish that I have caused in the sefirah Netzach ShebeTiferes be rectified and I may be purified and sanctified with supernal holiness. May abundant bounty thereby be bestowed upon all the worlds. May it rectify our nefesh, ruach and neshamah (levels of soul) from every baseness and defect, and may it purify and sanctify us with Your supernal holiness. Amayn, selah.

Fan Palm Dance
Garden of Joy

These Palm fronds look to me as if they are expressing in dancing-- celebration of Netzach, victory.
One warrior in the center, maybe a Caregiver Angel Warrior, maybe someone 'surviving' has just returned home, within willpower and determination, and prevailing, all the dancers meet the frond and encircle frond and they dance, an endurance dance of joy.

The journey has left central frond a bit straight, and dancers open their wings to embrace and celebrate, and have frond feel the freedom of victory.
From where does the strength come to endure, and to reach victory?

I experience that JOY in how we can go forward in Netzach, be in Netzach, and not only in war in difficult situations in battle.
In Netzach we can journey, travel, succeed, meet our goals, and in abunDance--dance.
Netzach sh b'Netzach
Go forward in Joy, Return in Joy.
Form a circle. Dance.
Sing and drum too!

Today I realize that to do the Sephirah HaOmer counting with art and stories illustrating my Omer truths/Psalms, I am in the energy of Netzach sh b'Netzach dancing with personal stamina and endurance. On this day we are halfway through the trek to the mountain as we continue to sustain ourselves in Netzach on our journey.

How much can I endure?
How do I endure?
Especially when trials seem endless.
From the Holy One is where my inner strength comes.
The Source is limitless in supporting each of us.
Can you access all your determination and celebrate victory,
whether from trials, challenges, or JOY?

MIRIAM HaNeviah, Miriam the Prophetess

Do you share Miriam HaNeviah's Midot/attributes?

Miriam is a biblical archetype of Chesed/Lovingkindness within Hod/Divine Glory.  Of course, Miriam manifests herself also within Gevurah, Tiferet and Netzach, and her Sephirotic energies flow further into Hod, and then into Yesod and Malchut.

Miriam's neshama in Hod, Reverberates with wisdom and goodness in her leadership actions throughout the Israelites' journey from Egypt to Freedom. She is a shining light and understands the messages of Splendor that she receives from the Holy One, and surrenders to what she must do to save her people with wisdom, being clever, kind, sensitive, and with much love.

I like to think that my daily actions are based in Chesed and Hod. That is my Kavannah in Gemilut Chasadim. I honor Miriam HaNeviah as my model. It is obvious in my percussion playing as I serve in joy, G*d and community.

On a regular basis I put other's needs before my own, especially when I empathize with them.  I say to G*d that I need more time to do my own work, because I have helped others first while my chores were waiting, and I ask G*d to help me. I give my gifts with love, and expect nothing in return. I treasure the pleasure someone hopefully has from my art gifts.  Usually I don't know.

I'm grateful when they do have joy, and I'm most grateful that I've had opportunity to do Mitzvot.  An example is that I surrender into my own music offerings so that others can be elevated in their personal prayer. I move aside so that I am only a vessel that the Holy One can use to send energy through me to be helpful. This way, I hear some messages that I need to hear and act upon.

Today while in Chesed sh b'Hod, I created this card for a FB artist friend in Israel on Reb Shlomo's, z"l, moshav,
whom I have met for a few moments, also a potter, but she's working at it, and I acknowledge that she works in G*d's Splendor.
I'm grateful to connect with a ceramicist woman on Moshav Me'or Modiin, who also sees the beauty of nature, and clay.

HARVEST DETERMINATION WITHIN G*D’s SPLENDOR - day 32 NETZACH sh b’HOD

Determined Endurance to Give Away Grapefruit to the Needy

To achieve success/victory in giving away grapefruit to the needy, and that the fallen and way high up citrus is not wasted, took a few weeks of planning.

My mission was to give away hundreds of fresh, ripe, organic juicy delicious grapefruits to event organizers that feed the hungry. I called the local Councilman’s office the week before my goal to confirm donation collection sites that I had researched and seen posted.

For my hired gardeners to have their weekly chores planned out, and to save the Friday afternoon before CITRUS SUNDAY, and BIG SUNDAY events, and to have my 34 year old grapefruit tree heavily pruned, schedules needed to be made.

On Thursday, my caring sister Faye called to suggest that I call my gardeners and remind them to bring the right tools with them on the necessary next day.  As if I had not been stating my plan each of prior weeks, I then called the gardeners on Thursday with that same reminder. (I do this also at Tu B’Shvat time to prune fig trees.) I know that Jose does not want me to call and remind him, but I did, after hesitating. Sure enough, by the next day, Jose forgot after 3 weeks of planning and began other easier pruning. I don’t know that he had the best tool, a saw, with him, but he had a pruner with him.  (The same large pruner he had forgotten in a bush by the street a couple weeks earlier, and luckily I found it, and called him so he was not wondering where it was.)

Jose is a smart guy, but acted as if he had no idea what I was talking about with the fruit tree.  I then tried to explain that this was a good deed to give away the fruit, and not sell it, thus it had to be pruned now, as scheduled.

Rafael, the young assistant, said, “Muy caliente", very hot, and I agreed knowing it was over 100*. Normally in compassion I would say, “go home early and don’t finish”, but this time I did not. I said, “Con Cuiudad” with care, and Rafael then scuttled up the tree trunk and branches with the long pruner, and positioned himself to begin saving the grapefruit for donation. It was shady in the heavily canopied tree. They gardeners have water, and hats with them.

(It’s not fair to me that they always come to me in mid-afternoon at the hour’s hottest time, and I tell them not to stay long, although I pay them fully for the hour which is always much less time. I pay them when it rains or when they think it rains, or if too windy, and for their holidays.)

It was best to take down 5 feet of tree’s height with the fruit on branches, I had decided. In advance, I called a local nursery to make sure that seasonal timing was good for tree's health, and my sister 'Googled' internet for same info and helpful details. Voila-- good season.  I had been waiting for when new spring baby grapefruits were not so big.  To me it is terrible when with heavy winds, unripe green large fruits are thrown to ground, and all that nourishing growing time is wasted. I'd lost over 100 grapefruits in prior days' unseasonal heavy Santa Ana winds. I gave away many.

I picked up all the golden grapefruits and packaged them in bags and boxes. Unfortunately many split open and were ruined with the fall to ground. Can’t give those away. I always offer grapefruits to the gardeners, and bring them bagged to others. I cut some quickly, like oranges, and with giant slurps, ate them. No more meditative, slow with serrated knife sectioning and eating with a little pointy serrated spoon for me.

Only after I had ten big bags filled, I called Food Forward, an organization that forwards produce to needy people. I realized that the citrus was to much and too heavy for me to be lifting, carrying, and needed help. Food Forward people send out volunteers to do the picking, and I had saved them that people power. My intention was to drop off all the fruit at one of the many local donation places. Within an hour of calling, a pair of young strong women wearing body support belts, showed up with a big truck, and were very happy to repackage the grapefruits into big boxes and put them on the truck and haul them away.  I had remembered to tell them to bring better boxes than mine. The gals said that each filled box was 'only' 40 pounds. I was concerned for them. I was grateful that these gals could help me meet my goals, and I could help them meet theirs in a 'green' way.

This harvest experience was NETZACH sh b’Hod, and sharing with success-- the splendors of G*d’s Grace.

Now I am on Food Forward's address list for future years so that once again, I can harvest my grapefruit for those in need. That feels good to do this mitzvah / good deed.

This Valley neighborhood is 'historic' for its old grapefruit orchards from many decades ago.  The two citrus trees I planted 34 years ago on Tu B'Shvat when my daughter was two. There used to be a swing set between the trees when they were young.

TREES NURTURE - day 38 TIFERET sh b’YESOD

PSALMS OF MY SOUL
ספירת העומר

Kabbalistic Sephirat HaOmer - day 38, 5 weeks and 3 days
Trees Nurture ~ Tiferet sh b'Yesod

Looking up at the canopy of tree tops all around me in Mason Park for the Lag b'Omer celebration, had me feel protected in harmony with G*d's Love. It might be easier to paint the feeling of enveloping love for Tiferet, but having the trees all around me made me feel secure with something much greater than myself.

I felt Yesod's nurturing foundation of creation.

Branches grow up to the Heavens, and roots grow deep, and meet my needs for shade on a hot day.

When I would visit my husband, z"l, as he lay paralyzed for months on mechanical life-support, I would drive the long freeway distance toward the hospital, and on the way, stop in Elysian Park. Barefoot I got out of the car and walked in the grass under 100 year old trees. I needed to take that healthy loving nature energy with me into the acute-care hospital room so I could authentically share in the bonding of Yesod, with Tiferet's compassion and joy.

Tomorrow would have been my husband's birthday. He died at age 59.

May the refinement work of cosmic cleansing that I do on myself during the 49 days of Kabbalistically Counting the Sephirat HaOmer help me to mamash/truly be who I am, and need to become. I need to delete klipot/husks (negative influences) and again ready myself for Shavuot by strengthening, elevating and perfecting my midot/character traits.

Note: The counting of the Omer takes place between Passover and Shavuot, and each day is associated with a specific Kabbalistic combination pair of Sephirot.  For a greater explanation and understanding of this theme, see Rabbi Simon Jacobson's "A Spiritual Guide to the Counting of the Omer," which may be found on http://www.chabad.org/ or http://www.meaningfullife.com/

Relationships Bond in Bonding

Are your relationships firmly planted as are the trees and rocks?
Do you care for another, a person, animal, plant, mineral?
Have you bonded with others?
In what ways have you bonded?
Have you experienced another’s soul?

Recognize the Divine soul that G*d has given to you
to share your love, and caring.
Bonding nurtures.

HARMONY IN EXISTENCE - day 45 TIFERET sh b’MALCHUT

Kabbalistic Sephirat HaOmer day 45,  6 weeks and 3 days of the Omer

If only I could be in Tiferet, as beautifully in Harmony and Truth in my Malchut world of revealed expression and relationships, as is this Double Delight most fragrant single rose, gift from G*d.

Thank you Holy One of BlesSings for opening our eyes, nose, fingers, to touch this magnificent rose and see You, a fragrant taste of feeling in our heart.

How is your world of Tiferet in Malchut?
What is the beauty you see?
What is your inner beauty?

There is the beauty of our souls that can emerge.

I, too, need to clean off the shmutz, and let my soul shine.
Inhaling the breathe of rose, and holding that moment in stillness helps to cleanse me, and see myself, and our world with better eyes.

REB YOSEF - day 48 YESOD sh b'MALCHUT

Psalms of My Soul
ספירת העומר

http://sephirathaomer.blogspot.com

Yesod sh b'Malchut
Bonding in Nobility
With My Rebbe Yosef

Sephirat HaOmer day 48
6 Weeks and 6 Days of the Omer = Day 6 of Week 7
Ways of knowing the individuality of the Sephirot pair.

On this Omer Day 48, before I've read any others' thoughts on the day, I feel trembling in anticipation, knowing Shavuot is tomorrow night. Also I experience a sense of impending separation from the deep, intense 49 days process of contemplation, transcendence, and authentic spiritual purification leading towards revelation at Mount Sinai.

My immediate review of today, Yesod sh b'Malchut, only hours into its 'happening' (a good 'sixties' word for events), is filled with the attributes of Bonding and Foundation within the radiant Indwelling Presence of Shekhina. I examine my own deep-rooted characteristics within my own healthy independence, maturity, leadership, confidence (or not), uniqueness, revealed self-expression, personal contribution, inner-self (emotional gifts) vs. performance (physical gifts), reputation, connecting to and as vessel/conduit of Hashem, and recognition of Shekhina's Presence in my life. I acknowledge Hashgachah Pratit / Divine Providence.

Today I think about all the ways, how, when, where and why, I intensify my bond with others--with whom: with memories of deceased, z"l, and living, emotionally and with actions / mitzvot with many in my life: loved ones, children, sisters, family, friends, daughter's friends and family, machatenister, neighbors, shop-keepers, market vendors, Apple trainers, cohorts, rabbis, teachers and leaders (local and cyber), web masters, chevre, congregations, communities, hired help, repairmen, co-musicians, artists, others' pets, creatures that live wild in my garden (yes, I even created web sites for lizards and bunnies and birds because of 'my' bonding, as well as sites for 'departed' loved ones), and ...

Bonding for me was an unexpected and beautiful balanced element of the relationship that my Rebbe, Yosef Ben Shlomo Hakohen, z"l, and I had through his cyber "Hazon" study program. This program had no 'certificate' or diploma or honoring (as do many programs), nor 'fees' … The cyber program was for Jewish learning with traditional Torah teachings, and modeling of character and good deeds through autobiographies, for becoming a better Jew and human being, and for connecting with the Compassionate One. (I am eternally grateful that I found my rebbe through bonding with a spiritual writer, Ruthie, an Old City 'soul sister'.)

Reb Yosef was a Tzadik* / a righteous person (as others have told me). With humility, he would never have 'allowed' this identification. I chose the title "Reb" for my rebbe. He only signed his writings as "Yosef" or "Yosef Ben Shlomo Hakohen".  When my beloved Rebbe suddenly died 27 Elul, 5771 (September 25, 2011)I suffered a great 'foundation' loss. As I later discovered, I was not alone. Reb Yosef never spoke about his 'students', numbers of students, nor how he guided them. (Loving stories filled with personal examples, emerged after his death.)

Please read about Reb Yosef Ben Shlomo Hakohen in the web sites I have prepared for him in his zechut / merit and memory:

http://yosef-ben-shlomo-hakohen-myrebbe.blogspot.com
You are invited to send me your Reb Yosef memories for inclusion.

Please listen to Reb Yosef sing his favorite niggunim:
http://yosef-ben-shlomo-hakohen.tumblr.com

Daily, for years, through his writing and some personal phone calls from Jerusalem in the Holy Land, I was spiritually uplifted and strengthened by being Reb Yosef's student in his Hazon program. I never felt dependent on Reb Yosef, although since his death, I no longer have the Source for learning with inspirational immediate relevant thoughtful personal answers, nor the continual consistent level of acceptance, clarification, and mamash total caring encouragement. For insight and truth, I relied on his Kabbalistic Sephirot attributes of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, loving-kindness/generosity, strength/boundaries, compassion/harmony/beauty/honesty, endurance/determination, gratitude/awe, reliability and bond with the Compassionate One, and all that Reb Yosef was in his fragile physicality, and divine spirituality, and fullness as teacher and "brother".

I had bitachon / trust in my rebbe and total respect for him. He let me know where his own knowledge was limited, although I found that that was his humble style, and mamash / truly, he had more wisdom than he allowed to be shared. With respect, Reb Yosef at times directed me with my questions, to rabbis around the world, more familiar with particular topics.

Bonding was strong because Reb Yosef mamash understood me, more than I even knew, and wanted me to climb the Tree of Life, with all my potential, yearning, and ruach / spirit. He appreciated me for who I was (and my contradictions), enjoyed my humor, writing, artistic creations, and mitzvot, and he wanted me to grow and come closer to the Holy One. In my lowest place in mourning, Reb Yosef taught me that "G*d Loves You" and that helped save me, for my tshuvah / return to myself following my loss of spouse, z"l.

With Judaism as my foundation, and with emunah / faith that Reb Yosef had in me, I share Holy Ahavah / Love and so much more of Torah with my communities, and individuals that I mentor, so that they, too, travel on the Tree of Life. (Even Apple trainers put up with my Jewish spirituality and sharing during lessons. Until I arrived, they never before had Chanukah geltmatzoh or halavah.)

I was Reb Yosef's "sister" and his "spiritual child".  Bonded this way, we could survive our disagreements, and collaborations. He was my teacher, rebbe, spiritual guide, brother, and enduring, uplifting inspiration support during my husband's, z"l, lengthy and difficult illness and after. I miss my Rebbe and regularly have the need to call on him for his generosity of instinct and answers, and wish he was here to share his ruach-filled joyous light. Now he is 'home' with his sorely missed loved ones, z"l, and no longer suffering in his vulnerable body. Reb Yosef bonded with me, when he sent to me from Israel, his book, "The Universal Jew, Letters to a Progressive Father From his Orthodox Son".

Reb Yosef was a traditional Chareidi/Orthodox Jew, originally a New Yorker; and I am a Renewal Jew, originally a New Yorker (yet I also affiliate cross/post-denominations).  Reb Yosef and I bonded in the Light of Shekhina and Torah, in Yesod sh b'Malchut. We traveled on similar ladders paths to the Tree of Life. Reb Yosef was on higher rungs. His goal for me was to get me higher. My goal is to have others with me. I dedicate my 5773 Sephirat HaOmer posts in the zechut of my Rebbe Yosef, and for his Ilui Neshamah / soul's elevation.

Today on the 48th day of the Omer, arrived one of Reb Yosef's teachings from his Hazon Archives.
His 568 teachings that he sent out during week-days, are thankfully compiled on the web, and still all available to us because his friends continue in his Light:

Today's "Message for Shavuot" is temporarily found here:  http://hazonarchives.blogspot.co.il .

There are many other letters, essays, articles, e-mails, consultations, and press comments, that Reb Yosef Ben Shlomo Hakohen had written personally to those in need of clarification, learning, and support, comfort and guidance. Many essays not in the Archives are found by a Google search. Reb Yosef was beloved by all who knew him, and were touched by him and his mitzvot and holy neshamah / soul. Bonding in Yesod sh b'Malchut with Reb Yosef was a great blesSing for me, still revealing itself after his death.

Serve G*d With Joy
"Ivdu Et Hashem B'Simcha"

*"Yesod can be defined as the divine attribute which binds G-d to His creation in a bond of empathy and love. This is why the sefira of Yesod is also called "saint" ("tzadik" in Hebrew) as in the verse "a saint is the foundation of the world" (Proverbs 10:25). A tzadik, or saint, arouses mankind to seek G-d. At the same time he draws down G-d's compassion and goodness into the world. Thus he is the foundation of the world." - Chabad.org
